Position Purpose: The Human Resources (HR) Generalist will serve as a point of contact between Human Resources and Team Members throughout Steward Health Care Network (SHCN). The HR Generalist will consult and collaborate with employees at all levels of the organization, providing guidance and support as it pertains to policy interpretation, team member onboarding, and other functional components of Human Resources as directed. This position is strongly customer service oriented and is prompt, accurate and confidential in all matters.

  • Partner with the Talent Acquisition to ensure effective transfer, promotions, and on-boarding of new hires. Conduct and assist with New Employee Orientation (NEO)
    • Serve as a role model, mentor, and resource to all employees
  • Support employee engagement and culture initiatives that drive and support the mission and vision of the organization and align with our values
  • Ensure compliance with local, federal, and other governing bodies
  • Participate in national project initiatives that impact the national team member population, as needed
  • Responsible for offboarding activities to ensure a smooth transition for the exiting team member
    • Ensure that all Team Members exiting the organization complete an Exit Survey
    • Conduct Exit Interviews to review survey results and answer any questions exiting employee has
    • Analyze resignation trends based on exit survey and provide insight to HR Director monthly
  • Maintain all personnel files in compliance with state/federal regulations, including I-9 forms and background checks
  • Respond to employee and management inquiries in a prompt and timely manner on a broad range of issues and provides general guidance
  • Manage the personnel changes within our HRIS system ensuring timely and accurate completion
  • Support operational leaders with employee engagement and related HR interventions within their departments
  • Develop and maintain a strong working knowledge of SHCN operations and departmental missions
  • Analyzes a variety of data, composes appropriate reports for management and advises managers and supervisors in the development and implementation of action plans required based on data analysis
  • Other duties as assigned based on business needs

Education / Experience / Other Requirements

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field preferred
  • Human Resources certification preferred (SHRM/ PHR)

Years of Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years of HR generalist experience

Specialized Knowledge:

  • A minimum of three years of experience in new employment on-boarding or recruitment
  • Solid computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment. Must include Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Effective communication skills including oral, written, and interpersonal (constructive and collaborative)
  • HR experience in a healthcare field is preferred
  • Current, in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to human resources and employee management, including workers’ compensation, and federal and state employment laws
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; attention to detail is a must Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Ability to engage and work well with people at all levels of the organization
  • Resourceful and takes initiative; can operate with limited information and/or direction
  • Ability to prioritize and seamlessly manage multiple tasks and requests from multiple sources
