Job Details:

Position Purpose: In this newly created position the President, ACO will report directly to the President of Steward Health Care Network (SHCN) and EVP of Steward Health Care System. This position will develop a vision and strategy that translates the trends and market dynamics into meaningful goals that will position the ACO nationally and for success in the future while supporting the mission, vision and values of the organization.

Set the direction for leadership across all national markets. Lead by establishing a culture of engagement and collaboration. Coordinate the activities of the organization in support of policies, goals, long-term growth strategies and objectives established by SHCN and the Board of the Directors. Operate in conjunction with the Steward Management Services Organization and the Health Plan units.

Responsible for determining and implementing corporate objectives as defined by Steward leadership and SHCN Board of Directors Board with focus on optimal organization management across the ACO in the multi-state locations to leverage specialized skillsets and a common systems platform with the objectives to maximize Steward Health Care Network value.

Report on a regularly scheduled basis to SHCN Leadership and Board of Directors regarding ACO operations, the provider network, program development, contract development and compliance, program utilization, legislative development, State and Federal developments.

Identify cutting edge strategies and programs in identified markets to drive quality, outcomes, while controlling expenses.

Education:

· Board Certified Physician is required - preferably in the primary care space

· Current active licensure required

· Master's degree/MBA preferred

Years of Experience:

· At least 15 years in a leadership role within a large health system, hospital, ACO, or physician organization required

Work Related Experience:

· Experience successfully working with and navigating government agencies and controls

· Proven success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a wide range of managers, regulators, payors, contractors, vendors, customers, etc.

· Knowledge of health plan and accountable care organizations operating procedures required

· A solid track record of developing, articulating and achieving a growth strategy

· An ability to create and retain a world-class leadership team recognized for collaboration, innovation, and implementation

· Demonstrated track record in effectively developing, interfacing, and building collaborative relationships with healthcare/operating entity leadership, executives, physicians, and other key business partners

· Experience and demonstrated success in leading an organization through a transformation in a dynamic and changing environment

· Advanced communication and negotiation acumen and the ability to bring creative and strong strategic planning, financial accountability and business proficiency to the organization.

· Health care management and process improvement skills (LEAN, Six Sigma, or equivalent) preferred

· Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managed care concepts for various health plan and capitated programs

· Proven success in growing an organization into new markets and expanding product offerings at a national level

Specialized Knowledge:

· Understanding of the health care delivery setting including both hospital and physician reimbursement and claims processing.

· Understanding of risk-based reimbursement in commercial and government programs healthcare programs.

· Action-oriented, with a sense of urgency and the ability to instill this in others

  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills to manage complex projects through effective planning, tracking, and resource allocation to meet business objectives and timelines.

· Ability to communicate clearly with employees at all organizational levels, and across differing cultural backgrounds

· Strong analytic skills and the ability to translate complicated data into useable information, including analysis of practice variation
