The Senior Financial Analyst provides actionable decision making information by creating financial and analytical reports to assist with budget performance and variance analysis, administrative cost analysis and optimization, medical expense trend analysis and reduction opportunities, risk modeling, projections and operational reporting/modeling. The Senior Financial Analyst must be comfortable working with - and optimizing - existing models, as well as synthesizing information to develop new models. The Senior Financial Analyst should have an understanding of basic accounting principles and intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills. The Senior Financial Analyst should have experience in the healthcare industry, preferably managed care, and have the ability to understand and quantify key factors influencing financial performance of the various underlying businesses. The Senior Financial Analyst should pride themselves in their ability to learn quickly, accomplish goals with minimal supervision, synthesize and logically present thoughts and ideas, and work collaboratively within the finance and business organizations.


P&L, balance sheet, projection experience
Pro-forma financial modeling experience
Business and finance principles and practices
Financial analytics in a healthcare insurance environment

Effective time management skills
Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Skilled in use of MS Excel (complex formulas, pivot tables, v-lookups), Word, databases, and PowerPoint
Hyperion preferred, but not required

Work independently with minimum supervision
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with employees at all levels in the organization
Handle and prioritize multiple projects and changing priorities at a fast pace
Plan, organize, and effectively present ideas and concepts
Maintain an objective attitude and make independent decisions
Create reports that are easy to refresh and maintain despite multiple data sources.
Analytical and reasoning and ability to make decisions

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent obtained at a four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Master's in Business Administration, preferred

At least three (3) years experience in financial analysis, preferably in a health care / insurance industry
At least two (2) years experience in pro-forma financial modeling
